Every time I visit my parents, we talk about the same things; with my dad I talk about the renovations I’m doing in my house. With my mom, we usually talk about my dog and how big she’s gotten over the last weeks. Naturally, both topics are elevated with pictures of the house or pictures of the dog. Simple as that.

Here’s my problem. When I want to show the progress of my house, I struggle with my photo’s, since they are all over my photo library. They are lodged between work stuff, screenshots, personal pictures and general photo’s that I don’t like to share. I could share them with my dad, but he does not have or smartphone nor will he be able to quickly learn to work with one. And if I hand my phone to him, he will, without exception, swipe left and right through pictures I don’t want to share.

To share the photos with my own phone, I created the most basic of apps, for that one user, aka me. With basic tools and the most simple design I could create, Pholio was born.

Pholio | Pholio is a reference to Portfolio and Photo. It helps people when they want to share photo’s to their loved ones, their moms and dads or their friends. Not by sending pictures, but by sharing the iPhone. The interaction is more social and less rigid. Pholio allows you to select some photos and will only show these on screen. The person who is given the phone, can only see those exact pictures, nothing else. With FaceID, the original iPhone owner can unlock the app again!

For who is Pholio? Everyone who want to share photos without sharing too much.

Data Retention | Pholio does not collect or retain any biometric data. Authentication data is stored securely by your device’s operating system and is inaccessible to Pholio. Your Privacy RightsSince Pholio does not collect, store, or process any personal or biometric data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete.
